but there are all levels of people regarding the badges, from those that don't really care too much, to those that spend most of their defcon time working on the badges. most of the time, these groups welcome other people to come up and ask questions, and sharing of any knowledge/insight. in the halls, in hotel bars, in some of the villages (particularly hardware hacking, like qumqats said), in the chill out rooms, etc. you can find them by walking around and overhearing/seeing conversations about the badge. Like qumqats said, there are usually a bunch of groups of people working on the badges and playing with them to try and figure them out (some might say hacking them). It wouldn't hurt to check out this DEF CON guide, and watch the DEF CON 101 videos on Youtube. (Real Name, Fake Name, Handle, social media contact, burner phone number, email, Chaturbate, whatever.) If you meet some like-minded individuals networking in line, at a party, at a party in DT's suite, (with DT or Jason Biggs) you'll be happy that you spent the $$$ and weren't frantically writing your details on a greasy pizza menu with a half a Crayon thanks to a 1721 in the room.
